February, a turn for the better

After January ended so horrible with only 1/3 normal snowfall, February has been the complete opposite. Temps have been way below normal with above normal snow.  In 2 weeks we have already had more then the average snowfall for the month, with aprox 6' of snowfall in a one week period. We are now looking good for the rest of the season as snow continues to be forecast as well as continued cold temps.

January so far, not so good.

December ended strong and for the month we finished with an average amount of snowfall.  January is usually the biggest snow month by average, but 19 days in and its looking pretty bleak.  We need some good storms to keep the snow pack and hope to get into any kind of a spring season.
Silver Fir kicked off their night skiing last night!

Holiday week

The first few days of Hyak were awesome with dry powder easy to find along the groomers. Crowds not too bad, temps cold.  Saturday SL rose to 5500 and it rained all day. Snow compacted down and it appears we lost about a foot in depth. Its now Sunday and it just snowed 4-5" overnight with more coming down.

Hyak opens!

The conditions couldn't have been better for an opening day. 4" of fresh snow over top groomers and lots of untracked. Lines were not long as it was a little cold so maybe that kept some away?  More snow in the forecast for tonight and most of the week off/on.  Great start to the season.

Snowfall hit the pass level on Nov 7th, with 1" falling.  Thanksgiving came and with it our first storm of the season. The pass closed a couple times, chains required, all the usual.  About 8-9" up top at the summit with around 7" here at Hyak.
